Our Story

The Fox & Hounds Barley is a 350-year-old pub offering an atmosphere that pays homage to the traditional pub while featuring a delicious ever-changing and seasonal menu that celebrates British produce. 

The 17th-century Grade II listed building has undergone a £1m refurbishment inside and out after being bought by two local childhood friends, Robin and Colin, in 2018. Teaming up with acclaimed chef, Brett Barnes, the trio have developed a unique food offering that fuses local produce and ingredients with traditional cooking methods including curing, smoking and grilling over wood and charcoal.

British Produce

The menu at The Fox & Hounds combines traditional pub classics with more progressive dishes, made using the best produce from Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area. 

Local suppliers to the pub include Pinkster Gin, The Rare Breed Meat Company, Cheese Plus, Kale & Damson and The Cambridge Oven, as well as an array of guest ales and craft beers that will be featured on the bar alongside an extensive wine list.

The Garden

We are very happy to announce that our newly renovated garden is now open! With a dedicated toddler play area and space around our kitchen’s herb garden, it's a spot not to miss.
